Fortnight For Freedom

source
Our U.S. Catholic Bishops are calling all Catholics and others of faith, to participate in Fortnight of Freedom starting tomorrow on June 21st until July 4th.  They are calling it "a great hymn of prayer for our country."  During these two weeks, we also celebrate the feast days of brave martyrs who remained faithful to Jesus during persecution and they are:  St. John Fisher, St. Thomas More, St. John the Baptist, St. Peter, St. Paul and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.  We are now facing religious persecution if this HHS Mandate will not be overturned.  All Catholics are asked to focus on prayer, study, catechesis and public action during these two weeks.

For more information please go to the USCCB website to learn how you can make a difference in restoring religious freedom to our nation.  American Life League is supporting this effort and you can go to their website for additional information as well.

Mary Immaculate, pray for us!
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!
St. John Fisher, pray for us!
St. Thomas More, pray for us!
St. John the Baptist, pray for us!
St. Peter and St. Paul, pray for us!

Blessings,
Noreen

  1. Our parish has several events/ceremonies/devotions planned to take part. Our Adoration that day will be offered by each ministry/group in our parish including:

    The Ladies Group
    Pro-life
    Parish Council
    Youth Group
    Knights of Columbus
    and more!

Every hour, reps from those groups will kneel before Our Lord's Eucharistic Presence on the altar!

We'll also be hosting a rosary rally in the park that day!

Glad to be participating in the Fortnight for Freedom!

    1. Oh Judy, you are in a wonderful parish! I know of events happening in my area that I can attend, but my own church hasn't talked about it much.

    2. Noreen, I can not express the "wonderfulness" of our parish AND pastor. Never in my life, I have known such a feeling of "parish FAMILY". We are in a tiny country church...only several hundred parishioners...some the 4th and 5th generations of members! A man who is currently in the process of becoming a Deacon, has been a member of our parish his entire life. Can you FATHOM that in this day and age? Our pastor is truly chosen by the Holy Spirit. He is blessed. He is a man that you can not meet more than once; without it becoming a LIFE-CHANGING experience for you. I give thanks to Almighty God, each day, that THIS is where my children are being brought up in the Church! I could write 100 blog posts on the blessings of our pastor and parish. Truly, I could!

    1. You know, there are many people who have no idea about the HHS Mandate? And then, it is also being debated all across the blog-o-sphere. I feel like it is one extreme against the other. Polarizing.
